Internal Kung Fu Australia is from the Yip Man Lineage of Wing Chun Kung Fu.
One of Yip Man's earliest student's was Chu Shong Tin, also known as the King Of Sil Lim Tau due to his mastery of the first form. Chu Shong Tin also lived with Yip Man for many years and taught many of his classes. Our school decends from his teachings. Chu Shong Tin has practiced Wing Chun Kung Fu for over 60 years and still teaches in Hong Kong today. Internal Kung Fu Australia is decended from the Chu Shong Tin Lineage via Grandmaster Jim Fung and Sifu Mark Spence.
The Importance Of Lineage in Wing Chun Kung Fu
Lineage is very important in Wing Chun, and choosing a lineage is a difficult choice for the inexperienced. All lineages teach variations on the Wing Chun system, however similar they appear to the observer. The Chu Shong Tin lineage promotes an internal style of Wing Chun Kung Fu, which is the true style as evidenced by the Wing Chun Kuen Kuit that is handed down from generation to generation. Choosing this lineage for Wing Chun, you can expect a focus on Siu Nim Tau development, relaxation, and internal power generation. With that said, lineage alone is not satisfactory for learning Wing Chun, a good teacher is essential.
